Job Description

Position Title:

Assistant Director of Athletics Compliance

Experience working directly in a NCAA collegiate compliance office or NCAA conference office on regulations and interpretations.
Experience creating and presenting NCAA rules education at a higher-level program.

Job Description:

Iowa State Athletics is seeking candidates with a knack for public speaking an enjoyment in understanding and analyzing NCAA rules and policies and skilled at relationship building to join our team as an athletics specialist II to serve as an Assistant Director of Compliance. This position will assist the Compliance Office in ensuring coaches student-athletes staff former students and boosters are informed of and abide by NCAA Conference and institutional rules and regulations. The position will initially have the primary responsibility of overseeing rules education.

Examples of what youll do:

  • Create coordinate and implement rules education programming related to NCAA rules Conference rules and ISU policies and procedures for the institutions student-athletes coaches staff and University stakeholders.
  • Monitor and coordinate functional program area(s) such as: initial eligibility continuing eligibility transfer eligibility squad lists practice and competition eligibility reports camps and clinics etc.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide rules interpretations to the institutions student-athletes coaches staff and University stakeholders.
  • Analyze request research verify create and distribute a large volume of information.
  • Maintain several modules and reports within databases such as Teamworks ARMS and Compliance Assistant 2.0 (CA2.0).
  • Assist in waiver writing external and internal audits and other compliance duties.
  • Complete NCAA/Big 12/Institutional paperwork.
  • Commit to adhere to all rules and regulations of the institution Conference and NCAA.

The ideal candidates will possess good knowledge of NCAA regulations and excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with individuals and groups. The candidates will also need to have strong organizational skills be highly detail oriented and have the ability to research and analyze compliance related issues and NCAA legislation through the Legislative Services Database (LSDBi). This position requires a high level of integrity solid judgment and decision-making along with the ability to handle confidentiality multiple projects simultaneously and meet departmental deadlines.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

Applies broad working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex difficult and varied problems and issues
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
Provides guidance to students
