Job Description
Watson Candidate Assistant is here to answer questions about working at Dallas ISD.
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited university in Accounting (CPA experience preferred)
- Eight years of accounting experience
- Three years of Supervisory or Senior Accounting experience preferred
- Understanding of fund accounting principles that affect district special revenue funding
- Knowledge of sources of local state and federal resources
- Knowledge of the analysis and interpretation of financial data and the ability to prepare a variety of financial statements and reports
- Computer skills specifically with MS Excel MS Office Oracle ERP and other accounting software applications
- Ability to interact with all levels of district personnel and the general public
- Supervise and coordinate all activities of financial monitoring and reporting ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial records and fiscal reports related to grants and financial reporting.
- Review the accuracy of the monthly quarterly and annual expenditure reports that are submitted to various grant agencies.
- Review all accounting transactions relating to grant funds by ensuring recognition in accordance with generally acceptable accounting principles Texas Education Agency and other grantor guidelines and policies of laws
- Prepare year-end PBC work papers Annual Comprehensive Financial Report schedules footnotes and walk forward of balance sheet accounts.
- Develop and manage the fiscal year and monthly close schedule and reconcile year-end activity for all grant funds
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of accounting data and respond to and resolve all accounting and reporting matters related to special revenue.
- Develop and update departmental policies and procedures affecting day-to-day operations of grants monitoring and reporting.
- Develop and manage quality control procedures in accordance with policy technical updates and changes and provide technical accounting assistance to Special Revenue Funds Management.
- Manage grants accounting staff workloads duties and provide staff direction with support.
- Work collaboratively with other finance and accounting areas to meet all financial reporting requirements
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
