Mechanical Engineer

Location: UK-Based Sites

Salary: Up to 80000 per annum benefits

Industry: Oil Gas & Chemicals Storage & Terminal Operations

Type: Full-time Permanent

Our client a major player in the energy infrastructure sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their UK Engineering team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of the mechanical discipline across complex high-value projects in the bulk liquid storage industry.

What Youll Be Doing:

  • Take the lead on mechanical systems design specification and assurance across feasibility FEED and execution stages.

  • Manage and optimise static mechanical systems including tanks vessels piping networks and associated support structures.

  • Ensure compliance with Pressure Equipment and Safety Regulations and industry standards (API ASME EEMUA).

  • Act as a technical authority during hazard studies audits root cause analyses and MOC reviews.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders providing technical expertise from concept through commissioning.

  • Support emergency response and ensure adherence to site rules and engineering protocols.

What Were Looking For:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered Engineer or actively pursuing chartership).

  • Deep knowledge of piping systems including stress analysis tools such as CAESER II.

  • Familiarity with DSEAR (ATEX) PED PUWER and other UK/EU mechanical safety legislation.

  • Experienced in the design specification and operation of static equipment in oil/gas or chemical storage environments.

  • Strong communicator with a safety-first mindset and a passion for engineering excellence.
