A Brief Overview
Are you ready to dive into the exciting realm of educational technology Join IT Services innovative Education Technology (EdTech) team at Queens University where we enhance teaching and learning for students faculty and researchers.
As a Junior Software Developer you will collaborate with experienced colleagues to develop and maintain educational solutions utilizing industry-standard web technologies cloud platforms and custom applications. Whether you are working with Java PHP Drupal Microsoft Power Platform or various cloud solutions your contributions will significantly impact our university community. This position programs maintains develops and supports various databases applications websites and/or systems. This position designs codes tests and debugs programs and/or applications. This position also revises procedures and documentation to describe program development logic coding and corrections. A flexible attitude and a willingness to learn new technologies are essential for adopting the right tools and providing effective solutions. This will ensure your success in developing and maintaining secure accessible applications tailored for both students and staff.
We seek candidates who are eager to adopt new technologies and have a keen interest in educational technologies. Essential experience includes proficiency in web technologies (HTML CSS JavaScript PHP React and Django) and/or experience in Java application development. Hands-on proficiency with Drupal is valued and competency in low-code environments like Microsofts Power Platform and Salesforce is an asset. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS Azure or Google Cloud will be beneficial.

What you will do
Programs maintains develops and supports various databases applications websites and/or systems.
Designs codes tests and debugs programs and/or applications.
Modifies and enhances existing programs and/or systems to meet user needs.
Provides detailed instructions and documentation on system operations.
Revises procedures and documentation to describe program development logic coding and corrections.
Provides technical support to users.
Monitors security issues within the unit.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
Three-year Community College Diploma or Three-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition requires trade certification qualification or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.
Required Experience
More than 2 years and up to and including 3 years of experience.
Experience with scripting languages considered an asset (e.g. HTML CSS PHP Javascript maxscript mel etc.).
Experience with programming languages considered an asset (e.g. C C C# Objective-C Java Python ASP Perl .NET HTML5 CSS Assembler FORTRAN etc.).
Experience with software and web technologies considered an asset (e.g. ServiceNow Customer Relationship Management (CRM) other software packaging etc.).
Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
