POSITION SUMMARY
The CDL Driver/Escort operates a 28-passenger and smaller vehicle safely and efficiently to transport and escort participants on City programs primarily Day Trips Excursions and Hikes. All final candidates must consent to a criminal background check and successfully pass a drug screening. This position is subject to periodic random drug testing.
Perks include the cost of a meal and admission/tickets for the excursion venues and activities while on shift
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The list of work examples is not all-inclusive. They establish a flexible functional base from which the incumbent operates. Modifications additions deletions or changes are required to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Monitor passengers to board and disembark from the vehicle safely
- Operate wheelchair lift secure wheelchair as required assist wheelchair passengers
- Oversee participants during transport and planned activities to maintain a positive group dynamic
- Adherent to trip protocols and planned schedule provided by program staff
- Occasionally operate a cell phone with GPS/navigation device/app to generate and adjust driving directions as needed to locate bus parking
- Complete pre-trip safety checklist and reports vehicle maintenance needs as required
- Complete post-trip tasks as required to keep vehicles fueled clean organized and stocked
- Complete incident/injury/accident reports as required
- Pays excursion-related expenses with a city purchasing card submits receipts as required
- Troubleshoot unforeseen situations calmly positively with sound decisions and timely appropriate action
- Attend required training and meetings
- Perform other related work as required and assigned
- Follow written and verbal instructions; communicate verbally and in writing effectively professionally and promptly
- Accept direction advice and constructive criticism in a positive manner
- Be welcoming patient and courteous with people from varying social age and cultural backgrounds; exercise compassion and empathy while adhering to protocol
- Understand and follow all City of Englewood Parks and Recreation Policies and Procedures
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must pass background check including onboarding and randomized drug-testing
- Must have at least one years experience in related activity
- Must enjoy working with the older adult community
- Must be able to work collaboratively and independently
- An equivalent combination of education training and relevant job experience is considered
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a CDL License Class B with air brakes and Passenger endorsement (P2) to operate a 28-passenger bus within three months of hire
- Must possess a valid Colorado drivers license and a safe driving record
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or able to obtain within three months of hire
- Preferred: Some knowledge of Colorado roads and tourist destinations
WORKING CONDITIONS/LOCATIONS
- Must have sufficient strength agility and flexibility to accomplish the job
- Must have adequate hearing and vision to drive the vehicle safely
- Must have the physical stamina to drive and lead a trip from the minimum of 3 hours to sometimes 10 hours or more a day
- Works indoors and outdoors in varying weather and conditions
HOURLY RATE
$17.47 - $29.16/Hourly Pay Rate
This is a part time position. Hours are variable as scheduled weekdays and some weekend dates (approximately 5-20 hours/week)
