Job Description

Position Purpose:

To provide clinical assessment and treatment to individuals seeking to understand and/or alleviate mental health substance use behavioral relationship distress. In addition to provide clinical consultation and supports to colleagues as needed.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Engages with individuals and families who may be experiencing significant distress and/or have trauma histories
  • Identifies assesses and diagnoses in accordance with the DSM-5
  • Assists individuals and families with identifying and prioritizing goals in a social work setting
  • Designs time-limited treatment plans that target clearly identified treatment goals with a means of measuring success and treatment completion
  • Provides a variety of therapeutic interventions and modalities (individual couples family group therapies)
  • Establishes relationships with other providers partnering community agencies and identified support systems for clients collaborating as indicated for clinical reasons and/or professional development
  • Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Medical Record
  • Adheres to professional and ethical conduct at all times
  • Facilitate group supervision every other week
  • Provide on site clinical consultation as needed
  • Reporting any issues concerns or follow up needs to Area Manager
  • Be available to all adult staff for consultation and support in addition to Area Manager

Scope of Position:

The Senior Clinician provides evidenced-based treatment with the intention of helping clients and families gain insight and learn skills to better understand and address their reasons for coming to treatment. The Senior Clinician maintains a caseload that enables consistent meeting of the minimum direct service expectation set by the Program Director. The Senior Clinician collaborates with other HCRS providers and outside agencies and adheres to agency state federal and licensing board guidelines regarding ethical practice billing and documentation. The Senior Clinician may participate in time-limited workgroups that help advance agency standards and practices and provides consultation to adult staff in addition to the Area Manager. This consultation part of the role will not exceed 25% of the clinical productivity.

  • Ability to engage empathize and have compassion for the individuals HCRS serves
  • Knowledge of developmental trauma and attachment issues
  • Knowledge of mental health substance use social work and behavioral issues that impact an individuals quality of life particularly within a culture of poverty
  • Healthy communication skills that allow for honest discussions feedback and exchanges
  • Intermediate or Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to work well with a team and demonstrate flexibility when client program and/or agency needs require it

Relationships:

  • Reports directly to Clinical Supervisor; consults with Area Managers/Team Leader(s)
  • Expected to work close with HCRS team(s) including direct-service providers and support staff
  • HCRS ambassador in the community at area partners meetings

Qualification Statements

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION:

Minimum: Masters Degree in Social Work Clinical Mental Health Counseling Psychology or related field & Current Vermont License (LICSW LCMHC LADC LMFT)

Preferred: Masters Degree minimum 2 years of direct service experience

OTHER SKILLS ABILITIES and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong written and communications skills
  • Excellent inter-relational skills including conflict resolution
  • Ability to consider various factors before acting and to exercise sound judgement to make informed decisions in uncertain and/or complex situations
  • Ability to forge good working relationships with partners inside and outside of the organization.
  • First Aid Certified
  • CPR Certified
