Scope of Work:
The Speech-Language Pathologist is an independent health care professional who provides individualized patient care that assesses and treats speech language social communication cognitive communication voice fluency and swallowing disorders in children and adults per physician referral. The Speech Language pathologist is responsible to evaluate referred patients establish patient and family centered goals and develop and execute treatment plans to promote or maximize independence in the discharged setting. The staff speech language pathologist also participates in performance improvement and educational opportunities that promote the growth and development of the department and profession.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education / Training:
Masters Degree Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) ASHA.
B. Work Experience:
Experience in adult/children neurological speech and language disorders evaluation and treatment including aphasia apraxia dysarthria dysphagia laryngectomy stuttering and voice disorders.
Experience with head and neck cancer tracheostomies cognition TBI dementia and modified barium swallow studies.
C. Certification Licensure Registration:
Certificate of Clinical Competence America Speech-Language-Hearing Association (required) or
Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Licensure in Speech Pathology-Michigan (required) or temporary license during the CFY (required)
