A/V TECHNICIAN THE MOB MUSEUM
Position Overview:
The A/V Technician will play a pivotal role in audio-visual operations and support for all exhibits and events at the Museum. S/he will also be responsible for technology-related troubleshooting and repair. This individual will be responsible for analyzing systems and processes developing a keen understanding of programming languages required for technology operations and acting quickly when exhibits are in need of repair or troubleshooting. The A/V Technician will report to the Manager of Technology.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage the mechanical electrical and technological operations of all Museum exhibits; acting as the first line of contact in the event of malfunctions or issues.
- Set and strike audio visual lighting and internet equipment for sales clients.
- Assist clients in the usage of A/V equipment.
- Maintain rental equipment ensuring care is taken during transportation handling and storage.
- Operate scissor lifts to transport and setup/strike equipment.
- In conjunction with the Assistant Manager of Technology develop annual technology goals and detailed plans for goal accomplishment.
- Support the Assistant Manager of Technology in the installation maintenance and operations of office computers phones copiers etc.
- Prepare maintain and test a disaster recovery plan for A/V equipment.
- Analyze Museum technology requirements and develop functional specifications. Conduct comparative analysis and competitive bidding when necessary.
- Present and implement technological alternatives to streamline functions and improve productivity.
- Ensure compliance with all software licensing agreements. Manage and safeguard software media and associated licenses.
- Provide technical supervision to other Museum staff as directed.
- Respect confidentiality in discussing staff volunteer or vendor matters related to information technology.
- Participate in fostering an organizational culture that values innovation promotes inclusion and inspires excellence in the work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:
- At least three years of experience in A/V production theatrical or related fields.
- Must have knowledge of working automation controls.
- Preferred knowledge of DMX lighting standards and controls.
- Must be able to accommodate schedule changes due to event sales.
- Willing to work nights weekends holidays and extended shifts as needed.
- Thorough knowledge of system development methods used for the development of new systems and enhancements to existing information systems.
- Systematic knowledge of computer monitoring systems vendor-supplied packaged programs and other highly technical programs.
- Able to adapt integrate and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied packaged programs for use with existing information systems.
- Able to effectively gather and analyze facts draw conclusions define problems and suggest solutions.

Education:
- Bachelors Degree with a focus in computer science information systems programming or a related field required. An equivalent mixture of education and experience will be considered.
