The King County Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) has a staffing need for an experienced and technically proficient Wastewater Process Engineer III within the East Process Control Unit.

About the Role:

The Wastewater Process Engineer III will play a key role on the WTD Process team and perform advanced engineering duties. The successful candidate will develop plan and direct process feasibility studies to improve treatment process performance and research and recommend new equipment and chemicals. You will support capital project reviews/implementation energy and chemical conservation initiatives and complete regulatory tasks and reports. You will become an expert on our treatment plant permits (e.g. Municipal Wastewater Puget Sound Nutrient Industrial Stormwater Reclaimed Water and air permits) and help convey requirements to our Operations and Maintenance Section leadership and the treatment operators and maintenance workers.

The King County Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) protects public health and the environment of the central Puget Sound region by collecting and treating wastewater while recovering valuable resources that would otherwise be lost. We manage a vital infrastructure that contributes to the regions economic development and provide services to 18 cities 15 local sewer districts the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe and nearly two million residents across a 424-square-mile area in King Snohomish and Pierce counties. We enforce regulations to reduce harmful waste discharge and actively educate the public and businesses on water quality protection. Our regional wastewater treatment system not only sustains a healthy environment but also fuels economic development fostering prosperity in our region. Required Licenses or Certification:
  • Professional Engineer license (PE) - any state with ability to get a Washington PE within one year and/or a Washington State Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Group IV certificate (or ability to obtain in 12 months).
