Job Description

PRINCIPLE CHOICE SOLUTIONS

CT Technologist

POSITION PURPOSE

The CT Technologist is a specialized Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist responsible for performing a wide range of complex computed tomography (CT) procedures at a VA medical facility. This role supports diagnostic and interventional imaging services for veteran patients ensuring high-quality imaging patient safety and adherence to VA standards.

Projected Start Date: April 1st 2025

Offering Range: $29.40 - $35.38 $4.93 (H&W)

Contract Length: 6 months with 4 (6) Six Months Options

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform routine and advanced CT imaging procedures including contrast-enhanced studies angiography and trauma scans.

  • Operate and maintain CT scanners and associated equipment ensuring optimal image quality and radiation safety.

  • Assist radiologists during interventional procedures such as biopsies and drainages.

  • Prepare and administer contrast media under the supervision of a radiologist.

  • Ensure accurate patient identification documentation and image labeling in the PACS system.

  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide emergency care as needed.

  • Maintain compliance with infection control safety protocols and VA imaging policies.

  • Participate in quality assurance continuing education and equipment calibration activities.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program (minimum 24 months)

  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography

  • Advanced ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT) required

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience performing CT procedures independently

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required

  • Experience working in a hospital or VA medical center

  • Familiarity with VistA CPRS and PACS systems

  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology

  • Proficient in office automation equipment and software.

  • Excellent interpersonal written and customer service communication skills.

  • Personal traits of a high-level commitment motivation energy team orientation professionalism trust personal honesty and integrity and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen; work sponsorship is not available.

MACHINES & EQUIPMENT

The incumbent must be able to effectively operate the current computer system telephone system and other office machines such as a copier.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standard Infection Control: Provide proof of the following immunizations Tuberculosis MMR Varicella TDAP Influenza COVID-19

  • Lifting and Moving Patients: CTtechnologists often need to lift or assist in moving patients which can require lifting at least 50 pounds.

  • Standing for Long Periods: The job typically involves standing for prolonged periods sometimes for the entire duration of a shift.

  • Manual Dexterity: Fine motor skills are essential for precisely positioning patients operating the CT scanner controls and adjusting equipment settings to obtain optimal imaging results.

  • Stamina: The ability to work long shifts which can be up to 12 hours including nights and weekends is often required.

  • Physical Agility: Technologists need to be able to position themselves and the equipment around patients who may be in various states of mobility.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The incumbent works in a hospital environment that is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions such as heat cold or extreme noise.

Security and privacy training will be provided as part of this role to protect the confidentiality integrity and availability of PCS associate and customer data.
