ABOUT THIS ROLE
IS seeking a detail-oriented and motivated HR professional to join our People and Culture team. The ideal candidate will operate as a generalist and support various HR functional areas ensuring efficient operations and positive employee experiences. This role will support functional areas such as recruitment payroll onboarding/offboarding employee relations benefits administration performance management and compliance. This role plays a key part in supporting day-to-day HR operations as well as contributing to special projects and organizational initiatives. This role is part-time (25 hours/week) through December 2025 with the possibility of converting to a full-time position based on performance and available funding. IS operates a hybrid model (Tuesdays Wednesdays Thursdays are in office days).
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Recruitment and Staffing
Support the recruitment of assigned positions to include posting jobs interview scheduling develop interview questions and support additional recruitment functions as needed.
Collaborate with hiring managers to provide guidance and recruitment support.
Coordinate new hire onboarding to include scheduling onboarding meetings conduct background checks complete new hire processing draft offer letters prepare orientation materials and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed.
Maintain the recruitment spreadsheet to include the tracking of associated costs.
Maintain compliance with recruitment policies and ensure adherence to equitable hiring
practices.
Ensure all new hires have a positive experience as they join IS.
Payroll & Benefits & HR Administration
Assist with payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely submission of HR updates.
Support benefits administration including Open Enrollment quarterly benefit events updates and employee communications.
Coordinate all aspects of the offboarding process including final paperwork and system deactivations.
Review and reconcile monthly benefits invoices resolving discrepancies with vendors as needed.
Respond to employee concerns and inquiries ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
Support staff meetings by helping with logistics coordination and the collection of materials.
Assist with HR compliance obligations including timely updates of personnel files.
Assist with the collection and reporting of HR data to support decision-making and identify workforce trends.
Support organization-wide learning and development efforts including tracking training participation and helping coordinate internal learning opportunities.
Monitor and track employee leave programs to include accurate recordkeeping compliance and generation of related reports as needed.
Performance Management
Coordinate performance management timeline. Send timely reminders to managers and staff.
Ensure the collection and completion of performance documents and proper upload to the HRIS.
Remain proficient in IS HRIS system to troubleshoot technical issues and provide support throughout the review cycle.
Employee Engagement and Wellness
Organize and coordinate employee engagement and wellness activities and events.
Support the execution of key annual events including the Staff Retreat Volunteer Day and Social events.
Assist with logistics and communications for organization-wide initiatives that promote connection and culture.
Support special projects as needed.
Experience and Education
Bachelors degree in human resources business administration or a related field.
Minimum of 3-4 years of HR experience preferably in a generalist role.
Professional HR certification (PHR SPHR SHRM) is a plus.
Experience in the nonprofit sector strongly preferred.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of HR principles and practices.
Strong knowledge with HRIS systems for data entry reporting and processing. Knowledge of Payroll Network I-Solved and Applicant Pro a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think innovatively.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook).
Strong technology skills plus attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
Ability to manage HR projects ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.

Work Environment
The work environment is a typical office environment. The noise level is usually quiet. Up to 5% travel may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
