EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
Basic Locksmith skills including:
Generating keys by duplication code and impressioning
Keying of key-in-lever mortise and interchangeable core cylinders
- Basic master keying
- High security cylinder servicing
Safe Combination and Electronic Lock Servicing
Padlocks cam locks file cabinet locks - servicing and installing
Installation and maintenance of all door related hardware
Certification from one or more of the following:
Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA): Certified Register Locksmith (CRL); Certified Professional Locksmith (CPL); Certified Master Locksmith (CML)
The Institutional Locksmiths Association ((ILA): Certified Institutional Locksmith (CIL); Certified Journeyman Institutional Locksmith (CJIL); Certified Master Institutional Locksmith (CML)
Door Hardware Institute (DHI): Door Hardware Technician (DHT) Basic knowledge of Life Safety Fire and Building Codes High School Diploma or GED Valid Colorado Drivers License Clean motor vehicle record (MVR) Asbestos

Preferred:
Experience installing repairing and maintaining institutional/commercial door hardware including VonDuprin exit devices LCN door closers and Schlage Grade 1 lever sets and mortise locks.
Experience with maintaining large master key systems
Basic knowledge and understanding of ADA standards as they pertain to the door hardware and door industry
Thorough knowledge of Life Safety Fire and Building Codes and Standards including the following:
International Building Codes (IBC)
National Fire and Protection Association (NFPA)
NFPA 80 Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives
NFPA 101 Life Safety Code
NFPA 101B Code for Means of Egress for Buildings and Structures
NFPA Standard for Smoke Door Assemblies and Other Opening Protectives
Experience with electronic locking systems
Basic knowledge of electronics as it pertains to electronic door hardware
Any other industry related certifications education experience or training
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective: Install repair and maintain all District door systems including frames hinges closers lock sets exit devices and other associated hardware and locking systems District-wide. Maintain the District master key system and all related records. Collaborate with and assist Department Manager with door and hardware schedules specifications and master key bitting for all capital construction projects. Assist with District wide electronic access control system. Work closely with other departments including security personnel to provide safe and secure facilities.
Essential Functions:
Install repair and maintain all District doors exit devices closers and other related door system components padlocks cabinet locks and safes.
Create keys for door locks padlocks desks and cabinets.
Maintain District master key system and all related records.
Maintain code compliant fire rated openings inspect and identify non-compliant openings for upgrades and repairs.
Maintain ADA Compliant openings inspect and identify non-compliant openings for upgrades and repairs.
Maintain door systems in accordance with all applicable codes and laws.
Coordinate with Security Systems Technician to plan install service and maintain mechanical and electronic lock systems and door hardware used to interface with the Districts electronic access control system.
Implement preventive maintenance programs for doors and hardware cylinder lock servicing safes and padlocks.
Recommends and specifies doors and hardware in accordance with applicable codes and laws.
Assists with maintaining and ordering of department inventory.
Accomplishes duties of the Access Control/Security department and repairs without direct supervision on a daily basis.
Drives various fleet vehicles daily
Provide 24-hour on call assistance for department related issues.
Uses positive verbal and non-verbal skills when working with District Personnel and Community members at all times.
Ability to perform all job functions of the position
Other Functions:
Assist with the installation of Electronic Hardware
Assist with supervising contractors installing doors hardware and other department related items.
Cross training with Security Systems Technicians
Maintenance of power tools and shop area
Assists other members of the department as needed
Snow removal
Performs other duties as assigned
Drives various fleet vehicles daily.

Drives various fleet vehicles daily.
Accomplishes duties of building maintenance and repairs without direct supervision on a daily basis.
Performs work according to the Facilities Department work order system and direction from supervisor.
Operates heavy equipment as needed.
Assists other members of the department as needed.
Snow removal.

Materials and Equipment Operating Knowledge:
Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals
Operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word Excel Google Docs and/or other department software packages
Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment such as telephones copier fax machine E-mail etc.
Ability to use a wide assortment of hand and electrical tools

Travel:
- Local in-town travel is required daily
- Out of town travel is minimal
