What We Are Looking For
The LVN Message Center works under the supervision of the LVN Manager to maintain a smooth operation in the Appointment Message Center. Answers high volume of calls and handles patient requests competently evaluating patient necessity. Interfaces with providers to ensure clinical efficiency and maximum productivity are met. Assist in areas that are out of the scope of practice for the message unit support staff emphasizes completeness and concern for the patient. Performs other duties as assigned.
Schedule: 5 days per week 8 hours per day Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Location: Hospitality Lane Administrative Offices San Bernardino CA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES
- Evaluates and documents incoming telephone calls and competently evaluates and advises patients under the direction of the clinician in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Ability to call in refill prescriptions as outlined in SAC Healths approved standing orders.
- Utilizes nursing knowledge to reacting quickly calmly and professional in emergent life threatening situations according to clinic protocol.
- Takes accurate and complete messages competently evaluating patient necessity and advising under the direction of the clinician ensuring that all patient communication (x-ray lab messages medications etc.) is completed in a timely manner according to office protocol.
- Resolves problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions; escalating unresolved problems. Assist in areas that are out of the scope of practice for the message unit support staff.
- Coordinates instructs and/or schedules patients regarding tests procedures or office visits as requested by clinician.
- Ability to remain calm in a stressful environment always maintaining a positive and helpful attitude towards patients clinicians and co-workers.
- Adjusts to work pace when performing multiple tasks maintain optimal patient call flow in call center and remain calm in a stressful environment to direct patient care under the direction of a licensed provider.
- Participates in patient education reinforcing program and insurance guidelines to enhance patient understanding (i.e. CDP Gateway FPACT IEHP Medi-Cal etc.)
- Ability to collaborate support and function in a teaching organization that builds coaches and embraces interns and residency programs. Must demonstrate a passion for the team and have the ability to consistently work with rotating doctors residents and interns while continuously building a trusting safe patient centered workplace.
- Demonstrate the ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity work effectively and with individuals of different cultures and socioeconomic status; Passion for service.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited LVN program required. You may be able to substitute LVN School Accreditation with Completion of CA State equivalency method by those who have acquired formal nursing education and met hours and requirements listed by CA Board of Vocational Nursing.
- Licensure/Certification: Current active and unrestricted CA LVN License required; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (must be American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program). As a requirement of this position you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years experience as an LVN is required. Experience in an FQHC outpatient setting is highly preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Fluency in English and Spanish preferred. The ability to translate medical information is preferred. Must have professional telephone etiquette combined with a pleasant and courteous voice. Strong public relations skills are essential. Must possess the ability to maintain a professional attitude in difficult situations and communicate effectively. Must perform as a team player.
- Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
