About the opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with a parks planning background. The Strategic Parks Planner sets the direction for parks open spaces trails and outdoor recreation facility planning and design. This role leads cross-functional teams and is responsible for developing policies plans designs special projects and public consultation processes. The role engages in long-range activities including data collection analysis research and report writing while consulting with government officials staff consultants community stakeholders and the public. This advanced planning position requires strong independent judgment creativity and proactive action.
About Your Background:
To qualify for this role you have a Bachelors degree in Community and Regional Planning Landscape Architecture Parks Recreation & Leisure or a related field along with relevant experience in a municipal setting. Membership or eligibility for registration with the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects is ideal. Full membership or eligibility for full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset. Candidates should have at least five years of parks planning experience in a government environment which includes managing planning projects studies and policy or program development demonstrating proven skills in engaging with the community and various stakeholder groups. A valid full privilege Class 5 BC Drivers License (or out-of-province equivalent) is required.
