None/Not RequiredRTX Corporation is seeking an experienced and skilled Machine Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our machine shop including direct supervision of hourly bargaining unit employees. This role also carries responsibility for winding heat treat and plating operations ensuring all manufacturing processes are executed efficiently safely and with the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities technical expertise and a proven ability to manage both people and complex manufacturing processes effectively.
What You Will Do
Supervise and coordinate the activities of machine shop personnel ensuring optimal workflow and productivity
Manage heat treat and plating operations in compliance with safety quality and process standards
Plan and schedule production activities to meet deadlines and customer specifications
Oversee equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules
Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
Train mentor and assess team members to support skill development and career progression
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation
Maintain accurate documentation of production output quality inspections and inventory levels
Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to improve processes and product quality
Ensure compliance with company policies industry standards and regulatory requirements
Lead continuous improvement efforts to optimize quality efficiency and cost
Working Environment
This position requires standing for extended periods operating machinery and lifting heavy objects. The work environment may include exposure to high temperatures chemicals and loud noises
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a CNC machine shop environment including at least 4 years in a supervisory role
Experience using SAP Solumina or similar production management tools.
Qualifications We Prefer
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred
In-depth knowledge of machining processes heat treatment and plating operations
Strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead and motivate diverse teams
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure
Solid understanding of safety standards and regulations in a manufacturing environment
Proficient in using computer software for production management and reporting
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
