Position Overview:

The Clinic Physician will provide primary health care services and assure that the clinics medical services are in full compliance with standards ethics and license requirements of the medical profession.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Medical Director to ensure that the NARA Indian Health Clinics medical services are in full compliance with standards ethics and license requirements of the medical profession. This may include supervision of medical students coordination of locum tenens physicians contractual physicians and development of linkages with non-allopathic health care providers such as naturopathic doctors acupuncturists or herbalists.
  • Engage in collegial consultative relationship with NARAs Nurse Practitioners other physicians mental health practitioners registered nurses dieticians Residential Treatment Center staff and Outpatient Treatment Center staff.
  • Participate as a member of the clinics management team.
  • Establish consultative referrals network and coordinate linkages with contractual pharmacy hospital-based admitting physicians and reference labs.
  • Provide comprehensive primary health care services defined as holistic health care which the client receives at the first point of contact with the health care system and in continuous and comprehensive and included the following; health promotion; prevention of disease and disability; health maintenance; rehabilitation; identification diagnosis and management of health problems; and referral to other providers as appropriate. (Oregon Revised Statutes Chapter 678 Division 50)
  • Provide clinical treatment of acute and chronic illnesses and minor injuries.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Practice.
  • Oregon Medical License or ability to obtain one.
  • Preferred experience in providing advanced gynecological and prenatal care.
  • Current CPR card.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients the community and other staff members.
