We are transforming our Inclusion and SEND services here in Lancashire. Part of this initiative means expanding our workforce with passionate skilled people who can help deliver the best possible support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities as well as those in alternative provision and their families.

About Us:
Lancashire County Council is dedicated to ensuring that vulnerable children and young people are safe supported and able to achieve their full potential. We are seeking two enthusiastic and compassionate Assistant Case Managers to join our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) team in the following areas:

  • North Area Team - Lancaster
  • Review Amend Team - Lancaster

Role Overview:
As an Assistant Case Manager you will play a crucial role in supporting children and young people with special educational needs and their families. You will work collaboratively with various stakeholders including families education providers and health services to ensure the best possible outcomes for those we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
  • Obtain and interpret the views wishes and feelings of children and young people regarding their special educational needs.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate special educational provisions.
  • Write clear and comprehensive Education Health and Care (EHC) plans.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and timelines.
  • Attend planning and review meetings providing support to senior officers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and data to track progress and outcomes.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognised vocational or professional qualification in health education or social care.
  • Experience working with children young people and families particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce high-quality reports and documents.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority SEND procedures.
  • Experience in a multi-agency environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
