RN Neuro Stepdown - Per Diem - Days

We are seeking a compassionate and high-performing Registered Nurse (RN) to join a 30-bed Neuro Stroke Stepdown Unit on a per diem basis in Chicago IL. This unit specializes in caring for post-stroke and neurointerventional patients in a stepdown or COU (Clinical Observation Unit) setting. Ideal candidates will be confident in managing patients with neurological deficits and committed to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in a neuro stepdown/telemetry setting

• Monitor and manage post-stroke and post-neurointerventional patients

• Perform and interpret EKGs assess neuro changes and communicate changes in condition promptly

• Utilize the nursing process (assessment planning implementation evaluation) to deliver safe and effective care

• Document all care accurately using EPIC EMR

• Administer medications monitor telemetry and manage equipment as needed

• Collaborate with neurologists rehab teams and care coordinators to optimize patient recovery

• Float to similar units as needed (e.g. Telemetry Stepdown)

• Active Illinois RN license (Required)

• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA Required)

• NIHSS certification (Required)

• Proficiency in EPIC EMR (Required)

• Ability to perform EKGs independently (Required)

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a stepdown or neuro/tele unit (Preferred)

• Strong neuro assessment skills and critical thinking required
