Since 1981 the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service collaborating with the Presidio Trust partners donors and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument Fort Point National Historic Site Alcatraz Island Crissy Field Mori Point Lands End and the Presidio of San Francisco.

Branch/Unit Description:
The Interpretive Centers and Sales Department is responsible for developing and operating visitor centers throughout the Golden Gate National Parks providing visitor information orientation and other direct services. Conservancy Interpretive Centers provide educational functional and proprietary park merchandise along with changing park exhibits. The department develops park books maps and interpretive and branded products manages warehousing and distribution operates the Muir Woods Fee Collection program and develops and operates the Conservancys online sales and wholesale programs. Interpretive Centersinclude Alcatraz Park Stores Muir Woods Visitor CenterLandsEnd Lookout Warming Hut Fort Point Park Store Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center and Presidio Visitor Center.
Position Overview:
This is a nonexempt regular position of 40 hours/week.
The Stock Associate (SA) works to ensure our retail stores are presentable organized and fully stocked. Whether folding shirts rolling posters or stocking the Sales floor the SA actively supports the daytoday functions of the retail operation.
Reports To: Assistant Manager II Merchandising; Manager II Inventory
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the store appearance by stocking the sales floor in a safe efficient and timely manner
- Regularly check that the store displays are full filled with the correct items and arranged in accordance with our merchandising standards
- Communicate up to the Assistant Manager II Merchandising if there are items low in stock or out of stock
- Fold shirts and tidy displays
- Unload and unpack new merchandise
- Stock shelves racks cases bins and tables
- Stamp attach or change price tags on merchandise referring to price list
- Gather items for delivery
- Count merchandise accurately
- Perform cycle counts
- Works collaboratively with the Warehouse team to check in items from the monthly barge fold plastic boxes to hold pieces of historical concrete print labels and item barcodes as needed
- Works collaboratively with the Sales team to provide guest experience operate the register and bag items
- Clean display cases and shelves
- Provide basic housekeeping to ensure a clean and presentable work environment
- Learn systems and procedures to enhance selling efficiencies
- Provide visitors with an excellent cash wrap experience through pleasant quick efficient and accurate transactions
- Provide exceptional visitor experience by actively listening to visitors and engaging with them in a genuine manner
- Tell the Alcatraz story through interpretive merchandise and historical knowledge
- Maintain positive relations with our park partners primarily the National Park Service
- Other duties as assigned by manager

- Ability to operate a POS system efficiently and accurately
- Must be competent in Microsoft Outlook
- Must be responsible for punctuality and attendance
- Ability to comfortably interact with visitors
- Must remain open to changing priorities as customer and management needs dictate
- Must have flexible availability including weekends holidays evening and night shifts
- Must be willing to learn inventory management software
- Must be willing to learn Microsoft Excel and Word

Physical Requirements and Work Environments:
- Standing most of the day but also sitting squatting kneeling or walking depending on a wide range of duties.
- Working on the sales floor stockroom warehouse and outdoors
- Walking around the site restroom and outside environment in response to visitors concerns.
- Lifting carrying or positioning objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Wearing a uniform and adhering to professional appearance standards.
- Work requires staff to take the Ferry from Pier 33 to Alcatraz Island
- Work is performed on the three retail stores located on Alcatraz Island: The Dock Store the Building 64 Store and the Cell House Museum Store
- Regularly requires a walk up a hill that is equivalent to a 13story climb.
- Work is primarily performed standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours per day.
Pay Rate/Benefits:
This is a benefitted position working an average of 40 hours per week. Overtime is paid for any hours exceeding 8 hours in one day. The pay is $22.00/hour (Pay Grade 8).
