The Mental Health Assistant performs a variety of patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal and emotional needs of adult and/or geriatric patients while under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.The successful candidate will rotate between the CoOccurring Disorders Unit in Webster and the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit in Southbridge.
Our team includes a medical director nurse practitioner social workers nurses and mental health clinicians. We offer a wide range of specialized inpatient services using the latest therapies including sensory rooms and group meetings. We work closely with the patient and his/her family and caregivers to design a comprehensive aftercare treatment plan. The treatment plan may include outpatient therapy ortreatment programs. The goal of treatment is to help the patient reenter the community and live a productive life.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Mental Health Assistant performs a variety of patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal and emotional needs of adult and/or geriatric patients while under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities include possiblerotating shifts between the CoOccurring Disorders Unit (CDU) in Webster and the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit in Southbridge as needed.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:2 years experience and/or CADC (Certified Alcohol and DrugCounselor) preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:High school graduate or equivalent preferred and certification or equivalent experience required. Receives on the job training under close supervision. American Heart Association certification for health care provider required upon hire or during orientation and every two years thereafter. Dr. Armstrong training required during orientation and every year thereafter.
