Location: This position is fulltime (40hours/week) MondayFriday in a typical office environment. This role is onsite at 51 Clemson Rd. Columbia SC.
Position Purpose: You will design compensation programs and practices collaborating with business leaders on initiatives that impact the entire organization. Your work will support business strategy fit the organizational culture and help attract retain and reward highperformance employees. You will consult with HR and management to align solutions with the organizations structure and analyze job content to ensure equity competitiveness and compliance.
What Youll Do:
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all areas of HR and corporate business leaders. Provides technical expertise in identifying researching analyzing and resolving compensation issues ensuring compliance and making recommendations for modifications to compensation programs to meet business objectives. Maintains a full range of knowledge in organizational design current market trends and the development implementation and administration of compensation programs.
Provides compensation consulting to business units by working directly with management providing guidance on compensation policies and practices problem definition and resolution job evaluation compensation training and various compensation related issues. Conducts analysis of employee classification jobs salaries and incentives in order to evaluate internal equity external competitiveness and legal compliance of the organizations pay practices. Makes recommendations regarding salary grades and market rates for specific jobs. Reviews salary and job actions for compliance with organization policy and budget. Participates in market surveys.
Collaborate with other HR functional areas to ensure that compensation is an integral part of diversity affirmative action payroll employment/selection initiatives and supports the overall HR strategic direction. Makes presentations and conducts training groups including presentations to top management on compensation related issues and topics (i.e. management training compensation study results etc.).
Acts as primary administrator for compensation support systems including access databases market pricing system vendor sites and other support systems. Manage relationships with compensation survey vendors. Identifies process improvement opportunities that will increase productivity and customer service. Works with management and departmental staff to document procedures and provides them to management for adherence to departmental/company quality management standards.
To Qualify For This Position Youll Need The Following:
Required Education: Bachelors
Required Work Experience: 5 years compensation experience including market pricing job analysis and/or salary survey participation.
Required Skills and Abilities: Excellent judgment quantitative/analytical and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated understanding of how Compensation programs effect an organization and successfully link it to processes. Thorough knowledge of wage and hour laws and regulations. Knowledge of laws and regulations that impact Human Resources processes. Ability to manage projects. Strong customer service organizational presentation skills. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Strong math skills. Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion. In depth knowledge of FLSA exemption classifications job evaluation methodologies. Advanced knowledge of principles of wage and salary administration along with market pricing. Demonstrated experience presenting recommendations to management up to and including senior management.
Required Software and Tools: Microsoft Office. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables formulas lookups and graphs/charts. HRIS market pricing or similar compensation software.
We Prefer That You Have The Following:
Preferred Education: Bachelors degree in human resources/human resources management
Preferred Software and Other Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Access including form table and query design.
Preferred Licenses and Certificates: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
