Position: Emergency Department Technician
Location: Adult Emergency Department
Schedule: 36 Hours (Nights / Every Other Weekend and Holiday)

As the largest and busiest provider of trauma and emergency services in New England BMC is a national model of excellence in emergency medicine. Our ED serves more than 130000 patients each year providing 24/7 cuttingedge comprehensive teambased emergency medical care.
Our team consists of experienced emergency medicine attending physicians and residents advanced practice providers emergency nurses mental health specialists social workers and case managers. We have a specialized pediatric emergency department staffed by board certified pediatricians and pediatric emergency medicine specialists.

POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Emergency Department Technician in our Emergency Department (ED) you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies procedures protocols and standards of practice our Emergency Department Technicians provide direct clinical and support services. Using our patientcentered care model and uplifted by a supportive nursing organization you will participate in the delivery of care to our patients and their families. You will also work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient family and staff needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the ED and their families.
Clinical services could include but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs bathing and feeding dressing wounds assisting with hygiene cleaning rooms and linens and emotional support.
Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe clean and appropriately equipped environment for patients visitors and staff in the ED.
Contribute to the efficient operation of the ED ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED certificate
A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Ability to pass clinical competency testing
Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
Basic math and computer proficiency
One of the following:
One year of previous experience as a Emergency Department Technician in an acute hospital setting
Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
Completed an approved Emergency Department Technician training
Completed an approved Emergency Department Technician training
One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
Fluency in another language a plus
Previous medical/surgical experience preferred
