About BBS

Beach Building Services (BBS) at California State University Long Beach is dedicated to supporting the university by ensuring the safe operation maintenance and development of the campus. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Custodial Services and immediate supervision of the Supervising Custodian performs custodial janitorial and maintenance duties in assigned areas and other related work as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and characteristics of surfaces to be cleaned. Ability to perform repeated bending stooping lifting reaching activities. I.e. pushing/pulling fully loaded custodial carts reaching to clean blackboards bending and stooping to do spot cleaning empty trash cans etc. Ability to read speak and understand at a level appropriate to the position. Experience working in a university or large institution. Excellent customer skills. Ability to get along with a diverse campus community. Ability to operate power cleaning equipment. Use custodial systems such as those to track work orders and two way radios for communication Ability to organize work assignments and custodial closets.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and nondiscrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3680 $4951 per month.

Time Base

1.0 timebase 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Additional Information

Due to the nature of this position current CSULB employees are subject to a criminal record check unless they have successfully completed a criminal background check through CSULB within the past 12 months.
