In accordance with the NCDPI State Salary Schedule or the Army Minimum Instructor Pay (MIP) whichever is higher.

FLSA Status

Job purpose

General Statement of Duties: Instructors are responsible for planning teaching directing and supervising the Army JROTC program in accordance with the policies regulations and directive of the Person County Schools and the Department of the Army Cadet Command.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepares the weekly training schedule
  • Prepares lesson plans and training materials for JROTC instruction IAW the Master Training Schedule and appropriate directives.
  • Development of the procedures governing the administration control and training of JROTC cadets IAW school and service policies.
  • Conduct classroom field and range training to ensure that adequate safe and meaningful instruction is being conducted in compliance with school and service regulations and policies.
  • Plan coordinate and conduct an annual inspection.
  • Requisition and maintain accountability for the U.S. Government property that is needed to support a JROTC program.
  • Participate in the supervision of after school activities.





Working Conditions

Possess sufficient medical physical and mental fitness; be willing to perform participate in and supervise activities of JROTC. Activities include but are not limited to:

(1) Platform and studentcentered instruction.

(2) JROTC Cadet Safety and Civilian Marksmanship Program.

(3) Conduct of drill and ceremonies.

(4) Leadership training.

(5) Water activities.

(6) Climbing (stairs and ladder).

(7) Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

(8) Physical training.

(9) JCLC up to two weeks.

(10) Training and events after normal classroom hours and over weekends.

Certification and License Requirements

  • US Military Retired Commission Officer or Warrant Officer (OFF / WO)
  • JROTC letter of instructor certification by US Army Cadet Command
  • Must meet Army/JROTC prerequisites and standards to be an Army Instructor (AI) as directed at by:
