Job Description

The Director Security Loss Prevention and Recovery is a leadership role responsible for developing implementing and overseeing a comprehensive global strategy to minimize losses across the organization. This includes preventing theft fraud operational disruptions and other securityrelated incidents that could impact assets and reputation. The Director will also be responsible for establishing and managing effective recovery protocols to mitigate the impact of security incidents when they occur. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership analytical and communication skills capable of working collaboratively across diverse global teams and business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development & Implementation:
    • Establish clear loss prevention goals metrics and reporting mechanisms to track performance and identify areas for improvement
    • Based on metrics external and internal incident details refine and deploy additional security standards and procedures related to loss prevention and recovery.
    • Stay abreast of emerging security threats industry best practices and technological advancements in loss prevention.
  • Risk Assessment & Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive global security risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and areas of significant loss exposure.
    • Analyze loss data incident reports and trends to identify root causes and develop proactive prevention measures.
    • Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Finance Legal Operations IT) to understand their risks and integrate security loss prevention strategies.
  • Incident Response & Recovery:
    • Develop and maintain global incident response plans and recovery protocols for securityrelated incidents.
    • Lead and coordinate investigations of significant security breaches losses and incidents ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
    • Work closely with Legal HR and other relevant departments on incident management and resolution.
    • Develop and implement postincident reviews to identify lessons learned and improve prevention and recovery strategies.
    • Work closely with law enforcement (Federal State and Local).
    • Foster relationships with National and Regional cargo task forces
  • Program Development & Management:
    • Further build out and Improve global loss prevention programs covering areas such as physical security inventory control supply chain security internal theft fraud prevention.
    • Develop content for employee loss prevention and investigation training programs.
    • Provide guidance on physical security controls and oversee the selection implementation and maintenance of security technologies and systems related to loss prevention (e.g. CCTV access control alarm systems).
    • Establish and manage a global network of security professionals and loss prevention champions within different business units and regions.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
    • Communicate effectively with senior leadership on security loss prevention strategies risks and performance.
    • Collaborate with external law enforcement agencies and security partners as needed.
    • Present regular reports on loss prevention metrics incident trends and program effectiveness to relevant stakeholders.
  • Budget & Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage the global budget for security loss prevention and recovery initiatives.
    • Ensure efficient allocation of resources to support loss prevention programs and personnel.
    • Evaluate the return on investment (ROI) of security loss prevention initiatives.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:
    • Ensure that global security loss prevention programs comply with relevant laws regulations and industry standards.
    • Stay informed of changes in security regulations and implement necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.

Qualifications :

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Security Management Criminal Justice Business Administration or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • 510 years of progressive experience in security management loss prevention and investigations with significant global experience.
  • Strong understanding of security technologies risk assessment methodologies and incident response protocols.
  • Excellent leadership communication (written and verbal) interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse teams across different cultures and time zones.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws regulations and industry standards related to security and loss prevention.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.  Approximately 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant professional certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional) CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) or similar.
  • Experience in mention specific industry relevant to your company.
  • Fluency in multiple languages.
  • Previous law enforcement experience
  • Previous engagement with a Cargo Task Force a bonus
  • Experienced investigator 
  • Supply Chain Knowledge/experience

Additional Information :

This position is ideally based in Bellevue WA (CHQ). (Consideration for applicants not able to relocate)

Initial training would be based in the Bellevue location.  A candidate would be expected to visit all Expeditors Corporate locations periodically.

Expected Base Salary:   $80000 to 100000 base salary eligible for competitive bonus compensation.
