Job Description

Summary

King County District Court (KCDC) is seeking a Fiscal Specialist Clerk. We are looking for someone who is customer service focus active learner adaptive reliable critical thinker and actionoriented. Fiscal Specialist Court Clerks provide technical financial and/or fiscal support services. Duties also include cashiering and/or fiscal information calculating accounts payable and accounts receivable.


Fiscal Specialist Clerks must provide outstanding customer service during stressful situations have impeccable attention to detail thrive in a team environment with superb problemsolving skills and be comfortable interacting with executivelevel management and members of the public via telephone or email on a daily basis. We need Fiscal Specialist Clerks to be committed to continuous learning open to change with a positive attitude and be able to succeed in a fastpaced and culturallydiverse environment. Candidates with fluency in one or more of the following languages are encouraged to apply: Amharic American Sign Language Chinese Farsi Korean Punjabi Russian Samoan Somali Spanish or Vietnamese.


King County District Court Profile

KCDC is the largest and most technologically advanced Court of Limited Jurisdiction in the State of Washington. It currently processes approximately 200000 matters per year with 25 elected judges and roughly 260 employees at 8 courthouse locations. The Court is a leader in many areas involving public safety and access to justice including the use of problemsolving courts jailalternative programs technology and judgemanaged probation services. Fourteen cities contract with King County for court services provided by KCDC.

Job Duties

  • Provide specializedand/or technical information that requires moderate interpretation of established policies procedures and guidelines to internal and/or external customers. Some incumbents may have to deal with sensitive and/or potentially volatile situations.
  • Perform basic numerical calculations involving accounts payable accounts receivable cashiering reconciliation of accounts monitoring of routine expenditures and/or other applications.
  • Perform basic data entry and auditing of financial accounting and/or fiscal information.
  • Establish maintain modify retrieve andtrack financial accounting and/or fiscal information using a variety of methods.
  • Enter obtain and/or verify financial accounting and/or fiscal information following established defined methods and guidelines.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers regarding appropriate and applicable codes policies regulations and laws.
  • Complete customer call processing related to payment center activities to include answering phones research and problem solve customer inquiries and identifying obstacles for callers making sure they receive all needed information.
  • Compile data that may require information searches through files contracts records or computer files including spreadsheetsand/or customized database applications.
  • Compose draft type and/or word process proofread and edit documents and/or correspondence.
  • Process mailings and documents that may require attaching related correspondence or information; select mail to handle personally where the response requires specialized knowledge of the assigned function; identify priority and/or timesensitive matters; and maintain security and confidentiality.
  • Review and follow desk procedures suggesting revisions when needed to ensure accuracy.

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

  • Experience providing excellent customer service in person electronic and via telephone while demonstrating discretion patience etiquette and professionalism.
  • Experience with cash handling balancing and till closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematics.
  • Ability to learn and use specialized terminologyrelevant to the position.
  • Ability to take initiative and adapt to changes in workload demand as needed.
  • Experience using software applications including Microsoft Word Excel Outlook andSharePoint.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Experience demonstrating attention to detail and staying on task.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external customers.
  • Experience demonstrating organizational skills.
  • Experience conducting researchas well as problem solving.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters.

Supplemental Information

  • Selection process: Application materials will be screened for qualifications; the most competitive candidates will be invited for one or more panel interviews. Any employment offer will be contingent upon the results of criminal background investigation and finger printing. This applicant pool may be used to fill future vacancies.
  • Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit talk or hear and use hands to finger handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand walk reach with hands and arms stoop kneel crouch or crawl and move and/or lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Working Conditions:Work is typically performed in an office environment with a moderate amount of noise (computers printers light traffic). This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • Work schedule: Working a 40hour workweek Monday through Friday.
  • Work location: Seattle Washington King County Courthouse 516 3rd Ave. Seattle WA 98104. Responsibilities occasionally may require overtime in order to meet deadlines.
  • Union Affiliation: This position is represented by Local 21 DC.
