Job Description

  • Based at the Australian College of Optometry with work at Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus
  • Parttime (0.4FTE) and fixedterm for 2 years
  • Level B $113157 $% Superannuation (pro rata parttime)

About the role:

As part of a course team within the School the Teaching Fellow will guide develop and deliver teaching and learning activities that foster highquality student engagement and enhance the overall learning experience The Teaching Fellow will make an independent contribution to the scholarship of teaching and learning by incorporating innovative educational practices and technologies thereby promoting excellence in teaching. The Teaching Fellow will contribute significantly to strengthening existing partnerships and exploring new collaborations with external stakeholders with the aim to improve teaching learning and research outcomes for the University.

The incumbent will focus on teaching and learning and associated service tasks.

As a Teaching Fellow you will:

  • Deliver effective teaching practices and suggest approaches to innovate teaching practices to achieve student learning experiences to support success and engagement.
  • Apply industry clinical and/or research practice to student learning experiences success engagement and resources.
  • Contribute to unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course to develop effective unit curricula clinical/professional education experiences and learning resources.
  • Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements.
  • Innovate unitlevel curriculum design with unit chairs and deliver learnercentric researchinformed teaching and apply current practice knowledge across all levels and modes.

To be successful youll have:

  • A minimum of 24 months tertiary education experience in Optometry.
  • A Doctoral qualification (PhD) a Masters degree or equivalent qualification and relevant experience.
  • AHPRA registration and therapeutic endorsement.
  • Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership of teaching and administration.
