Under the direction of the Association Director of Sports the Pickleball Instructor is responsible for the development instruction and motivation of all program participants in classes.
Essential Functions
- Organizes plans and executes all activities for enrolled participants
- Prepares for special program presentations
- Monitors the area at all times to ensure safety and immediately makes changes as necessary
- Provides a positive environment for all participants and actively encourages participation to ensure growth and development
- Exemplifies appropriate behavior and is a role model for participants; actively listens to all participants and shows patience understanding and respect for others
- Instructs and guides participants through the rules of the program and ensures adherence.
- Exercises effective problem solving techniques tackles issues directly and makes timely decisions based upon logical conclusions of factual information
- Immediately reports all unusual incidents or accidents to the Association Director of Sports and fills out all applicable and necessary reports
- Records daily attendance and maintains accurate and complete records
- Ensures the program area is neat orderly and free of all safety impediments
- Develops and fosters interpersonal relationships between participants and is proactive creating an environment of cooperation friendliness and helpfulness towards staff and customers
- Develops and maintains ageappropriate activities
- Ensures all necessary supplies are on hand and well maintained at all times
- Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day as required by department
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18.
- High School Diploma/GED or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience with specialty program offering.
- Prior experience in playing and teaching the sport.
- Must possess skills necessary to inform educate and motivate participants in all areas of pickleball.
- Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid required in the first 90 days of employment.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic
- segments of the community.
Locations: The candidate will work at YMCA locations depending on schedule: Bardmoor YMCA (8495 Bryan Dairy Road Largo FL 33773) Jim&Heather Gills YMCA (3200 1st Avenue South St. Petersburg FL 33712) or Speer YMCA ( 495 62nd Ave NE St. Petersburg FL 33702)
Hourly rate of $15. Parttime varied scheduled to include weekends and/or evenings. Free individual YMCA membership for employee and discount for family. Preemployment drug screen and clear background check required
