Job Schedule:2nd Shift 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days totaling 80 hours worked and have every other Friday off
Job Description:
This position sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes milling machines precision grinders etc. to make parts mechanisms tools or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Essential Functions:
Interprets blueprints sketches and engineering specifications.
Determine sequence of operations number of cuts required and method of setup and arrangement.
Work with a variety of machinists hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Make shop computations.
Fit and put together precision parts and determine material parts and equipment required.
Fabricate piece parts per work instructions drawings and specifications through the use of required machine tools.
Inspect piece parts per work instruction and drawing requirements.
Set up and operate machine tools.
Use adjust clean and store the tools machinery and equipment used.
Keeps records and reports of the use of equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior machinist experience or Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior machinist experience.
Experience as a manual machinist on a conventional lathe and CNC machining in an industrial / manufacturing environment.
Preferred Additional Skills:
A trade school certification or statelicensed Journeyman Machinist certification is strongly desired.
Manual machining experience is preferred.
Working knowledge of setting up the operation of milling machines and lathes.
Working knowledge of engineering drawings blueprints production plans and/or work instructions.
Working knowledge performing inprocess inspection of finished parts utilizing appropriate inspection and gaging equipment.
Knowledge of industry applicable laws codes ordinances and regulations.
Knowledge of machine tools and equipment machine shop procedures and practices principals and properties. Knowledge of basic mathematic principles to solve problems.
