We are looking for an individual to lead on model risk; identifying and helping mitigate the risks that the models we use to make our decisions pose to our business.

The opportunity:

We are an actively engaged risk function going through an expansion period of the business both in the UK and internationally. The team supports a wide range of corporate and business activities lending variety and challenge to our working lives.

What youll be doing:

  • Lead our work on Validation of the Internal Capital Models
  • Lead our work considering and challenging other models that underpin our business including pricing catastrophe models capital planning models and artificial intelligence
  • Consider and deliver on the model risk framework including sound model governance and effective model risk management practices in line with the PRAs CP6/22 on Model Risk Management
  • Develop a strategic approach to model risk management as a risk discipline in its own right
  • Ability to run and/or work within crossfunctional working parties
  • Represent the function at crossfunctional committee meetings and Risk Committees when required
  • Lead a larger subteam and deputise for Head of Risk when required
  • Ability to coach an analyst/senior analyst
  • Work independently on significant projects and/or own the running of key processes within the team
  • Supporting our engagement with our regulators

Our musthaves:

  • Deep subject matter expertise in Solvency II internal capital models and validation requirements
  • Wide experience of different models and the desire to learn more and broaden knowledge
  • Desire to build knowledge in the area of artificial intelligence and its ethical and effective deployment
  • Interest and desire to build knowledge in climate change and associated models
  • Good understanding of insurance business models/underwriting products
  • Be able to influence senior management across the business
  • Strategy execution ability to drive through an agreed programme of work and overcome resistance and challenges
  • Report writing and ability to communicate technical information in a way that is easy to understand digest and apply
  • Ability to bring together general business knowledge and technical risk knowledge
  • Have experience with training / risk workshops
  • Be adept at contributing to complex projects
