Job Description
POLITICO is seeking a sharp and energetic editor for our daily and weekly politics and policy newsletters. Our newsletters are a critical part of POLITICOs subscription and consumer platforms driving the conversation in Washington key state capitals and Canada on issues such as health care education tech trade and more.
The newsletter editor will work as part of a team to manage the evening newsletter editing workload ensuring editorial excellence maintaining standards and directly line editing multiple newsletters each night. The role is part of POLITICOs Central Editing Desk a versatile desk providing editing support for content across newsroom platforms and teams.
This editor will work Sunday through Thursday roughly 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern.
What Youll Do:
- Edit newsletters in our content management system for accuracy and clarity as well as factcheck and copy edit ensuring adherence to POLITICO standards and style
- Manage evening newsletter workload in collaboration with other members of the newsletter editing team and newsroom reporters and editors
- Support editing needs of any of our newsroom platforms and teams as needed
What Youll Need:
- 3 years of relevant journalism experience
- Rigorous commitment to fairminded nonpartisan journalism
- Strong organization and communication skills and ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and juggle multiple tasks in a fastpaced newsroom
- Experience in digital publishing and content management systems
- Working knowledge of AP style
