PARAEDUCATORSPECIAL PROGRAM CLASSIFICATION 1
Supervisor: Building Principal
Salary Range: PSE Salary Schedule
Location and Assignement: Mt. View Elementary
Conditions of work: 180 days/6.75hr/d
SUMMARY:
The position of Paraeducator I works under the supervision of the
certificated teacher and other staff personnel to assist in accomplishing the goals and objectives
of the instructional program. Typically in the general education or resource classroom.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Experience in supporting diverse student needs academically at the elementary/middle and/or high school level classrooms.
Develop plans materials and activities for students under the direction of the certificated
teacher.
Ability to communicate effectively with students staff parents and community.
Experience in positive behavior supports preferred to maintain an environment conductive to learning.
Understand and apply program activities rules regulations policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity of information and records.
Work collaboratively with supervising teacher and colleagues.
Keep documentation/data for teachers when requested.
Direct contact with students in the classroom and in other supervisory capacities.
Bilingual preferred in Spanish to help support student diverse language needs and parent
communications.
Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of study at an institution of higher education it must
meet the criteria of the Higher Education Act Section 101 (a). All classes must be at level 100 or higher OR
Associates degree OR
Pass the ETS Para Pro Assessment test.
Experience working with P12 students.
First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain.
Demonstrate basic computer literacy skills.
Demonstrate consistent punctuality and attendance.
Demonstrate flexibility with schedule changes as students needs change.
Work in noisy and crowded environments.
