Job Summary:
Coordinates throughput of patients in surgical area with charge RN. Leads the Perioperative Assistants throughout the day to help facilitate the OR schedule room setup and TOT in partnership with Anesthesia Technicians and Core Technicians. Provides basic care services including patient specimen and equipment transport along with room cleaning environment of care maintenance fluid and linen management. Oversight of maintaining and ordering inventory. Assists Product Inventory & Service Coordinator with unpacking and restocking of supplies.
Position Responsibilities:
Designates daily roles and responsibilities to PSAs. Reviews daily schedule with PSAs and charge RN to promote efficiency during room setup and TOT. Assists with training and orientation conducts and followsup on quality safety and audits. Receives responds and directs workforce to meet requests.
Prioritizes OR suite cleaning for room Turnover and cleans common areas within the perioperative area using prescribed procedures. Communicates with charge nurse throughout the day to prioritize needs of the department.
Oversight of maintaining and ordering inventory in coordination with the Product Coordinator. Stocks shelves in compliance with par levels stocks linen and fluids. Uses available technology as applicable. Responsible with assisting Products Coordinator in putting away all warehouse supplies daily
Assists in OR setup for each case having essential equipment moved into the room. Following case cleans and puts away equipment not needed. Removing broken equipment and notifying Core Tech / charge RN. Transports and handles essential equipment per policies and procedures.
Assists with transferring transporting and positioning of patients while using correct body mechanics. Transport of fresh and frozen section specimens checking specimen log for transport.
Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience: 1 year of Perioperative Assistant experience required
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Training / Certification / Licensure: BLS Certification
