Job Description

60% Grading and Feedback:

  • Evaluate discussion posts and short writing assignments providing concise constructive feedback in alignment with course rubrics and learning objectives.

20% Communication Support:

  • Monitor courserelated emails and respond to routine student inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

10% Grade Monitoring:

  • Review grade entries for accuracy and consistency across assignments ensuring alignment with grading policies.

10% RecordKeeping:

  • Maintain organized and uptodate records of student performance feedback and correspondence to support course administration.

  2. Additional coursework in environmental studies or a related fieldas evidenced in application materials.


Position Overview
The student assistant will support an online taught Environmental Science course designed for nonscience majors. Primary responsibilities include grading online discussion posts and graphical assignments as well as providing clear constructive feedback to students.

In addition to the online application the candidates must provide the following to ensure consideration:
  1. Cover Letter outlining your relevant qualifications and interest in the position.
  2. Resume detailing you academic background and work experience.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be preenrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/nonexempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/nonexempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
