Position Overview
Novelis Bay Minette has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Leader to join our new Bay Minette plant. This position reports to the Manufacturing Unit Manager and is responsible for the supervision and coordination of Operations employees as well as Coordinators and Specialists.
Responsibilities
- Drive Our Safety Culture; implement the EHS management system; and ensure continual improvement of EHS performance in daytoday operations. This includes compliance to all Health Safety and Environmental Policies
- Oversee all operational activities and housekeeping efforts in the manufacturing unit to ensure employee and equipment safety resulting in achieving production objectives at the highest quality and service levels at the lowest possible cost
- Lead and contribute to the development of process and product improvements new processes and new products which drive cost reductions efficiency improvements sales increases and improved customer satisfaction
- Execute training and development of all operating personnel to meet all applicable quality system standards
- Ensure these skills are evaluated at appropriate intervals and developmental plan(s) established
- Continuously Learn and Develop an ongoing knowledge of manufacturing processes operations and quality standards to help ensure the utilization of the best production methods and meeting of quality specifications
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree certificate or equivalent in a related field or a comparable combination of education military and/or professional experience
- Previous operational experience in Recycling Remelt and DC casting required (technical/process experience an asset)
- Previous experience in large high volume aluminum manufacturing environment
- Experience w applications of lean principles visual tools and selfdirected work teams
- Extensive experience in managing/supervising others in a complex and fast paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated results.
- Experience in implementing business plans
- Understanding of cost and budgetary processes inventory control procedures and methods as well as operational procedures

Location Profile
Novelis newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 highpaying advanced careers in modern manufacturing. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
