POSITION TITLE: INDOOR AIR QUALITY COORDINATOR (STIPEND POSITION)

SALARY RANGE: UP TO $10000 (STIPEND)

POSITION PURPOSE:

  • Under the direction of the Executive Director of Operations this position is responsible for coordinating and implementing the school IAQ management plan conducting regular inspections addressing IAQ concerns and promoting IAQ best practices for the Middletown Schol District.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (examples of): The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or allinclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Essential Functions encompass those tasks duties and responsibilities that are critical and fundamental to the job and comprise the means of accomplishing the jobs purpose and objectives. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable. For any employee with population specific/age specific competency requirements a copy of the requirements must be attached to this document.

1. Under the Direction of the Executive Director of Operations assists in the development of the District Indoor Air Quality Committee.

2. Schedules IAQ Committee meetings. Prepares agendas and other materials in preparation for committee meetings.

3. Develops implements and maintains comprehensive IAQ compliance plan in accordance with OSHA regulations.

4. Proactively conducts routine and as needed IAQ assessments and audits of District facilities. Takes action to document findings and maintains accurate and up to date records of findings.

5. Assists in the investigations of IAQ complaints and incidences including but limited to site inspections interviews etc. Maintains records of factfindings.

6. Proactively coordinates with Maintenance and Custodial staff to address IAQ issues/incidents identified from complaints assessments and audits.

7. In collaboration with Custodial Managers takes action to ensure that all cleaning protocols are utilized in accordance with industry and OSHA regulations.

8. Maintains records on air filter life cycles and takes action to ensure that air filters are replaced in accordance with Tools for Schools policies and procedures.

9. Maintains up to date records on pest control extermination/maintenance schedules and takes action to ensure that pest control vendors perform routine site work in accordance with Tools for Schools policies and procedures.

10. Assists in the development of District Pest Control Plan.

11. Proactively collaborates with outside vendors for IAQ testing remediation and other specialized services as directed.

12. Stays up to date on current IAQ regulations guidelines and best practices. Takes action to notify Executive Director of changes in a timely manner.

13. Performs other duties as directed.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Connecticut Motor

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years of custodial building maintenance or related field experience required.
  • Knowledge of basic IAQ principles and practices required.
  • Prior HVAC experience preferred.
  • Valid State Drivers license required.

  • Ability to climb ladders and navigate building roofs required.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of HVAC systems required.

LOCATION OF VACANCY: BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT

HOURS OF WORK: PROJECT BASED. AFTER REGULARLY SCHEDULED HOURS AND/OR WEEKENDS.
