Charles R. Drew University is located in the WattsWillowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for underrepresented students.
CDU is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of South Los Angeles neighborhoods.
Job Summary:
Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science is seeking a highly motivated and experienced enrollment marketing specialist to work with CDUs offices of admission recruitment financial aid marketing and the registrar to create and deploy innovative and compelling marketing materials for all CDU programs. Materials may include (but are not limited to): print collateral material; webbased marketing material; material for social media platforms lead generation drip campaigns and communication plans. Demonstrates the ability to understand a communication strategy map out a complimentary social media strategy and produce results. Strong customer service and strategic communication skills needed for quick responses to our student audience. Experience with socialcentric graphic or visual design preferred. Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media including experience and proven success with audience engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Working in partnership with the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and the Director of Recruitment and Partnerships the Enrollment Marketing Specialist will:
- Develop messaging and market positioning for CDU and the universitys various academic programs.
- Conduct a thorough review of all marketing materials in use and revise as necessary.
- Develop ongoing and ad hoc communication campaigns from Admission Financial Aid Registrar and Recruitment & Partnerships units.
- Recruit hire train and supervise student workers who will focus on developing and maintaining a vigorous social media and campus presence.
- Work with deans and program directors on programspecific marketing plans and tactics.
- Monitor campaign performance generate reports and recommend optimizations based on engagement metrics.
- Tailor messaging for key student groups including firstgeneration students transfer students adult learners and underrepresented populations.
- Help manage content calendars and assist with creative direction for campaigns and admissions and recruitment events.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Director regarding landing pages CTAs and web content
- Design campaign flows in platforms such as Slate HubSpot or Mailchimp to guide prospective students through the funnel.
- Uphold and communicate CDUs mission of health equity diversity and community impact in all messaging.

Qualifications/Requirements:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in marketing communications journalism fine arts graphic design preferred;
- Or relevant field with two or more years of directly related professional experience;
- Or equivalent combination of education experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- 35 years of marketing experience in a higher education environment required.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY/SKILLS:
- Excellent written verbal project management and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g. Slate Salesforce HubSpot)
- Basic graphic design skills (e.g. Canva Adobe Suite)
- Knowledge of marketing principles strategies techniques and practices
- Demonstrated success creating marketing collateral such as print material merchandise signage social media ads digital advertisements and other visuals
- Ability to hire train and supervise student staff
- Experience in a University setting
