Position Function:
Mississippi State University is searching for qualified individuals to fill Strength and Conditioning Assistant positions. These intermittent roles will involve working up to 720 within the fiscal year. Assistants will support the strength and conditioning programs working variable hours as needed. Your work schedule will be determined based on your assignment. This position is nonbenefits eligible.
Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.
Salary Grade:UC
For salary grade UC these positions are Unclassified and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary duties of the Strength and Conditioning Assistant (Intermittent Worker) include (but are not limited to):
Potential team assignment based on experience
Assisting with coaching Olympic Sport teams in their respective strength and conditioning sessions.
Helping conduct any testing performed with the student athletes.
General maintenance of the Olympic Sports Weightroom.
Take part in a handson responsibilities to help prepare for future positions in the field of strength and conditioning.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant AD of Strength and Conditioning

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required in a related field (i.e. Exercise Science/Kinesiology)
First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Either SCCC or CSCS certification(s)
Masters Degree (in pursuit)
Prior experience in collegiate strength and conditioning
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Professionalism in dealing with coaches and studentathletes.
Working knowledge of computers and technology is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to critically assess utilize and troubleshoot various forms of weight room technology.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Regularly involves lifting bending or other physical exertion.
Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat cold noise dirt chemicals etc.
Job frequently requires walking standing lifting sitting reaching talking hearing and handling objects with hands.
Requires handling of heavy weight objects up to 100 lbs. on a regular basis and on occasion up to 150 lbs.
