SUMMARY:
The Program Specialist serves as the vital bridge between Navarro College and East Texas A&M University facilitating seamless educational transitions for students pursuing baccalaureate degrees. This position coordinates all aspects of the institutional partnership: including but not limited to providing administrative leadership teaching education courses strategic outreach and implementing targeted enrollment initiatives for the Navarro College site as well as providing student support services faculty recruitment and administrative operations at the Navarro College location. The position will begin in Summer 2025 reporting to the Navarro Colleges Corsicana campus with the expectation of regular visits to other Navarro College locations. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to support student transfer pathways from Navarro College to East Texas A&M University.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach undergraduate coursework for the Curriculum and Instruction department or other program areas as required by immediate supervisor
- Provide support for all programs offered by ETAMU at Navarro College. Collaborate with ETAMU colleges and departments to ensure appropriate course offerings in support of programs offered at Navarro College.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Navarro College and East Texas A&M University facilitating student transitions and academic success. Role requires attention to Navarro students continuing their education at ETAMUs Navarro College site as well as Navarro students interested in transferring to ETAMUs main campus or entering its online programs.
- Develop and implement comprehensive plans for delivering undergraduate degree programs at Navarro College that create and proactively facilitate seamless pathways to East Texas A&M University.
- Facilitate communication between East Texas A&M University and Navarro College administrators faculty staff and students
- Provide instructional support for students transitioning between institutions
- Maintain current knowledge of educational research Texas teacher certification requirements as outlined by TEA best practices in teaching technological applications and online teaching methods
- Serve as a resource to the department college university and community partner
- Collaborate with faculty and staff from both institutions including Office of Educator Certification and Academic Services to implement departmental programs and Student Learning Outcome Assessments
- Attend department of Curriculum & Instruction faculty meetings and other events/meetings as needed
- Collaborate with Navarro advisors in advising update meetings
- Serve on the Teacher Education Admission Retention and Appeals Committee (TEARAC)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Qualified candidates must have a masters degree in education or Curriculum & Instruction or related field.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: A minimum of 3 years K12 public school teaching experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Dispositions for technology use and collaborative schoolbased initiatives
- Texas Teacher Certification (Texas K6 or equivalent)
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Masters in early childhood or Masters in Reading/Reading Specialist
- Experience in a K12 Leadership Role (Team Lead Instructional Coach Reading Specialist and/or PLC lead)
- K12 public school teaching experience with over 5 years
- Experience in higher education (adjunct consultant and/or field supervision)
