Senior Software Development Engineer - Anti-DDoS, Blackwatch Proactive Security

The AntiDDoS team is the frontline defense for all DDoS threats worldwide against all Amazon & AWS customers and services. Our architecture must be highly scalable performant and continually evolve against threats as they emerge.

The AntiDDoS team is looking for software engineers to solve incredibly challenging lowlevel networking problems deliver new capabilities and continue to scale our platform to meet the increasing needs of our customers worldwide. The ideal candidate has strong technical background in computer networking and programming experience in Java C C and is familiar with dataplane networking such as DPDK or XDP.

Candidates who enjoy computer networking deep packet analysis lowlevel performance sensitive systems programming and have deep analytical skills and excellent communication skills will find the AntiDDoS team to be inline with their interests and desire for challenge. You must be able to highly collaborate be creative analytical and thrive in fastpaced environments all while interacting with highly technical software and networking development teams.

Key job responsibilities
Lead projects requiring both business and technical domain knowledge and drive solutions to complex or ambiguous problems with limited guidance.
Set the team bar for writing clean maintainable code and perform peer codereviews.
Drive teams overall technical architecture engineering practices and engineering methodologies.
Work with other team members to investigate design approaches prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against fastpaced schedules.

5 years of noninternship professional software development experience
5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team

Experience writing low level drivers
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
