Job Description
Nursery Caregiver
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Long Beach is a welcoming religious community rooted in trust freedom and love. We are seeking a nurturing caring adult responsible for providing ageappropriate care and supervision for infants toddlers and preschoolers during our Sunday morning services and during occasional church events.
Supervisor: Director of Religious Education
FLSA Status: NonExempt
Hours of Work:
Parttime 2.5 hours per week onsite Sunday mornings 9:0011:30 am yearround including the summer. Requires occasional additional hours for church events which will be scheduled with advance notice.
Compensation:
Starting pay: $22.50/hr DOE/DOQ

Basic Responsibilities:
- Provide a welcoming inclusive and nurturing environment
- Provide safe and secure supervision of nursery room and play areas
- Play interact soothe and attend to the needs of children in their care
- Model appropriate behavior and oversee conflict resolution
- Effectively communicate with parents and guardians
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum age of 21 years old
- Experience working with children from birth through TK
- COVID19 Vaccination
- Basic CPR and First Aid for Infants and Children through a recognized institution (i.e. Red Cross) to be arranged
- Livescan DOJ/FBI Background Check (provided by church)
Preferred:
- College coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
- Experience or coursework in Special Education
- Familiarity with Unitarian Universalist principles
