Department Summary

The Housing and Residential Education (HRE) team at the University of Denver is committed to providing housing and support services for over 3000 oncampus students. Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Residential Experiences the Program Coordinator for Residential Education plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of Residential Education activities by providing programmatic event and administrative support.

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the essential responsibilities for Residential Education including student education & engagement recruitment and hiring. This position assists in the implementation of HREs Residential Education Model (REM) by helping plan coordinate and execute largescale programming. Administrative responsibilities include but are not limited to managing room reservations coordinating resource allocations placing catering orders coordinating interview schedules formal employment processes for student staff and responding to phone email and inperson inquiries.

Essential Functions

Programming & Student Engagement

  • Coordinate all HREs largescale events and central programming.
  • Support digital media design and marketing efforts for the department.
  • Schedule monthly meetings for campus partners connected to Living & Learning Communities and Affinity Housing.
  • Coordinate and disseminate interest rosters for HREs annual living community request process.
  • Assist with event set up and take down.

Leadership Development

  • Assist with all hall council initiatives recruitment & elections and kickoff day ensuring effective operations and alignment with HREs mission.
  • Benchmark and assess leadership initiatives to measure their impact and effectiveness responding to current theory and best practices.
  • Create maintain and implement a curriculum for leadership development initiatives tailored to the needs and goals of residential students.
  • Implement marketing strategies to promote Hall Council membership.

Recruitment Selection and Hiring

  • Submit job listings on Pioneer Careers Online (PCO) and support related tasks.
  • Manage room reservations for training and selection events.
  • Triage and assist with responding to student recruitmentrelated inquiries.
  • Schedule interviews with candidates and manage interview logistics.
  • Create and maintain candidate and student employee files.
  • Assist the Assistant Director for Recruitment & Development in the management formal hiring and separation processes for undergraduate and graduate staff including but not limited to submitting necessary paperwork communicating with prospective staff and monitoring hiring/separation completion.

Administrative

  • Manage resource reservations for HRE and DU partner events such as organization fairs prospective student visits key HRE initiatives.
  • Assist with Central Office triage including but not limited to phone email and inperson inquiries.
  • Coordinate catering orders for various events.
  • Manage supply ordering to ensure the availability of necessary materials.
  • Supporting timelimited special projects for Residential Education as needed.

Departmental

  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of professional & graduate staff.
  • Assist in the departmental training of professional graduate and student staff.
  • Attend events and programs sponsored by HRE and/or SAIE that periodically occur outside of standard business hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data processes and needs based on limited information and to research solutions.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work with a diverse population of administrators faculty staff students and external constituents.
  • Detailoriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Adaptable and able to work in a fastpaced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree with one (1) year of administrative event or program planning experience.
  • Demonstrated record of building collaborative partnerships with colleagues and key stakeholder groups.
  • Evening office hours and occasional weekend commitments are expected.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Administration Business or a related field or High School diploma or equivalency with two to three years of administrative programming or student support experience.
  • Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences Business or a related area of study
  • One to two year(s) of postBachelors work experience within residence life and housing or office setting
  • Experience working in a student support role.
  • Experience designing or implementing student leadership initiatives.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule

Monday Friday 8:00 AM 4:30 PM with some nights and weekends.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is 6.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for the position is $22.00 $23.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
