WHATS THE OPPORTUNITIY

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a temporary PartTime Housekeeper to join our Family Supports team! In this role you will be providing emotional and practical support to the pregnant and parenting youth and their children in our programs. This is a vacant position under OPSEU Local 258.

WHAT YOULL BE DOING:

  • Provide daily cleaning services including sweeping vacuuming and mopping the office area including childminding spaces and classroom building hallways and stairwells basement hallways bathrooms classrooms and laundry room
  • Clean and sanitize surfaces as well as showers basins countertops and faucets
  • Gather and dispose of building garbage and recyclable waste in appropriate outside receptacles
  • Weekly cleaning duties including dusting washing bath/shower mats removing cobwebs from light fixtures and other ceiling areas and sanitizing high touch areas
  • Monitor and replenish supplies throughout the building
  • Monthly cleaning duties including dusting throughout the building and conducting spot checks wiping handprints and scuff marks off walls/doors/windows
  • Cleaning up any spills of bodily fluids with appropriate safety precautions
  • Provide seasonal window cleaning when needed
  • Use Safe Storage measures and utilization of appropriate cleaning chemicals tools and equipment as per WHMIS standards
  • Report to Supervisor when sharps containers are full and need to be replaced
  • Ensure that appropriate signage related to potential workplace/living space hazards (i.e. wet floors) are posted where and when appropriate based on regulated Health and Safety guidelines

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:

  • An understanding of multicultural communities and a value for diversity
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and how to work with hazardous materials
  • Familiarity with cleaning and sanitation techniques and methods
  • Time management and organizational skills including the ability to effectively multitask
  • Good decision making skills related to safety
  • Ability to lift push and pull up to 30lbs
  • Physical ability and mobility to reach kneel and bend as needed

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW

This position starts immediately and will be approximately 11 months in duration

  • This is a PartTime Contract role approximately 11 months in duration that requires shifts which are primarily scheduled during daytime hours and will include occasional evenings and Saturdays depending on programs needs.
  • This role involves 3 hours of work per day totaling 15 hours per week.
  • Satisfactory Police Check with Vulnerable Sector check is required.
  • Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Wage: $17.39. Housekeeper wage grid placement.
