Job Description
JOB SUMMARY The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting patient specimens from outside or within the Hospital in accordance with established procedures. Responsible for distributing specimens to appropriate area(s) within the laboratory. Responsible for general clerical duties. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Experience: 2 years of hospital lab/ phlebotomist experience Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduated from accredited phlebotomy program. Experience: More than 2 years of hospital lab/ phlebotomist experience Licensure/Certification/Registration: Phlebotomy certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology or equivalent agency. Maintain a valid drivers license. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to accurately maintain sample and report identity using patient name and identification number through sample receipt processingand reporting. Ability to maintain accurate and complete records and maintains strict confidentiality with regards to patient information. Ability to effectively greet the public; work well with patients and Hospital employees; communicate effectively with all kinds of people. Ability to follow directions and perform tasks outlined in procedure. Ability to exercise judgment and take responsibility to maintain patient health and safety during specimen collection. Ability to organize work and meet deadlines.
Shift: 40 hours a week shifts either days or evenings- looking for flexibility flexible with 8 hours or 10 hour shifts. Will work about every other weekend. We would like someone who can work the holidays. Other RTO can be considered. Right now we have an 8 week need with a good possibility for extension.
