The YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking a fulltime Family & Crisis Advocate. This professional representative will provide victim services to child victims of domestic and sexual violence and their families at UPMCs Childrens Advocacy Center. The YWCA and UPMC have a longstanding and productive partnership working together through various disciplines to reduce the trauma and aftermath of abuse for children and their families. In this role the advocate will provide crisis intervention supportive counseling information and referrals and connect families to ongoing services provided onsite at UPMCs Childrens Advocacy Center. In addition the advocate also provides support to the YWCAs domestic and sexual violence programs assisting with hotline coverage shelter services safety planning and other crisisrelated services at the YWCAs main office. Position Details:
Hours: 37.5 hour work week; MondayFriday 8am4pm; some oncall as needed.
Rate: $20.51 per hour
Successful Candidates Will Have:
The ability to maintain a professional demeanor dress appropriately and with an emphasis on treating others with respect while maintaining a positive attitude
The ability to work independently while exercising good judgment and adhering to program policies
Conducting oneself with responsibility accountability integrity and a drive for excellence
Ability to balance assigned tasks and priorities daily
Prior crisis intervention experience and/or experience working with victims
Ability experience and willingness to work with children and families
Advanced communication skills (written and verbal) proven deescalation skills along with interpersonal and time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word Excel)
Position Requirements:
Bachelors degree in human services or related field with prior related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
Valid drivers license clean driving history and reliable personal vehicle. Proof of insurability may also be required
Current FBI criminal and child abuse clearance or the ability and willingness to obtain
