You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailJoin our Engineering Acceleration Team within the Technology & Innovation Group and play a critical role in enhancing our cloudnative infrastructure and developer platform capability.
We are looking for a Platform Engineer to join the team to empower software and engineering teams to deliver highperformance scalable and secure systems by improving the way we build deploy and run applications across Kubernetes and hybrid cloud environments.
As a Platform Engineer in this team you will:
Design build and maintain Kubernetes clusters across onprem and cloud environments.
Define and implement best practices for container orchestration infrastructureascode and continuous delivery.
Ensure the scalability security and reliability of our software services in your environments.
Responsibilties:
Platform Infrastructure Management
Deploy and operate Kubernetes clusters (AKS/EKS/onprem) across hybridcloud and virtualised environments.
Define and implement best practices around scaling security high availability and tenancy.
Enable application delivery through GitOps workflows and Helmbased deployments.
Cloud Infrastructure & Automation
Use Terraform and Helm to automate provisioning and configuration of infrastructure.
Build reusable modules and automation for developer and infrastructure teams.
Contribute to shared pipelines templates and documentation to enable selfservice.
Develop and maintain Cloud Operators for managing application lifecycles and platform services.
Support secure and compliant provisioning of services and resources across multiple environments.
CI/CD and Software Delivery Enablement
Extend and manage CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket Pipeline or Azure DevOps.
Support build packaging deployment and lifecycle management processes.
Help teams adopt modern delivery practices through tooling and coaching.
Join wider Application Development squads to accelerate delivery of key projects.
Observability Site Reliability
Operate production workloads with an SRE mindset: measure reliability define SLOs and reduce toil through automation.
Contribute to oncall readiness incident response processes and root cause analysis. As well as being available for escalated out of hours calls where needed.
Define and improve availability performance and scalability through platformlevel metrics and service reviews.
Apply security best practices for Kubernetes (RBAC network policies secrets).
Work with internal teams to ensure audit compliance and cost controls are met.
Support secure identity access and secrets management integrations.
Skills and experience required:
Collaborative and adaptable with a platform mindset.
Strong interest in enabling engineering teams through infrastructure and automation.
Confident communicator who can explain infrastructure decisions to developers and nonspecialists.
Ability to work well across teams and disciplines especially in highperformance environments.
Selfmotivated and pragmatic with a continuous improvement approach.
Experience with:
Kubernetes provisioning and lifecycle management (AKS EKS onprem)
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform Helm)
Containerisation and orchestration (Docker Helm Operators)
Cloud platforms (Azure AWS)
CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps Bitbucket Pipelines GitHub Actions)
GitOps (e.g. ArgoCD FluxCD)
Monitoring logging and alerting (Prometheus Grafana Loki)
Scripting and automation (Python Bash etc.)
Exposure to the following would be beneficial:
Multicloud or hybridcloud architectures
Security practices for cloudnative platforms
Cost optimisation strategies in cloud deployments
Reliabilityfocused engineering (SLOs SLIs error budgets)
Incident response practices and postincident reviews
Supporting production systems and oncall readiness
