This position will begin with the 202526 school year on or after July 1 2025. Salary based on experience for placement on the pay grid. Full benefits package available. Effective 7/1/2025 this position will be included in the Education Association and will follow the union contract.

Qualifications:
- Ability to work well with people and maintain productive and positive interpersonal skills.
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience.
- Current Michigan Teaching/Administrator Certificate.
- Masters Degree Preferred.
- Demonstrated success with teaching students atrisk in the area of reading
- Knowledge of current state standards
- Instructional skills and knowledge base in early literacy components such as phonemic awareness phonics fluency vocabulary and comprehension.
- Familiarity and success with utilizing formative screening and diagnostic tools with students to determine appropriate reading instruction.
- Driving may be necessary for this position which would require a valid drivers license.
General Description:
The General Education/Literacy Consultant will provide regional leadership in all areas of literacy interventions curriculum instruction and assessment.
Essential Functions:
- Work with the MultiTiered Systems of Support teams.
- Work with school districts in assessing needs and integrating MultiTiered Systems of Support for K3 literacy and mathematics.
- Develop and model high quality lessons and units for teachers.
- Coach oneonone in high needs classrooms building and maintaining confidential relationships.
- Serve as a regional source for development and delivery of professional development related to researchbased strategies and interventions for teachers.
- Supporting the integration of technology in effective instruction.
- Participate in school improvement activities focused on improving instructional practices as evidenced by student outcomes.
- Participate in required trainings for Michigan ISD K3 Literacy Coaches.
- Remain knowledgeable about current research and pedagogical recommendations relevant to the coaching role.
- As needed for completion of duties attend meetings outside of normal working hours.
- Must have regular and reliable attendance.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a positive role model for DIISD constituents demonstrating how to be a responsible citizen and productive member of society.
- Ability to carry out other associated duties as assigned by administration.
- Adhere to the DIISD Code of Ethics.
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to blood bodily fluid and tissue.
- With reimbursement may be required to use personal vehicle to perform job related functions.
