Description

The Director of Campus Security supports the mission and values of Anderson University by creating assessing and maintaining the necessary conditions for a safe and secure campus for students faculty staff and guests.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Lead hiring performance evaluations and disciplinary processes for security personnel.
  • Maintain and execute an onboarding and training plan for all new safety and security employees.
  • Evaluate the work of all fulltime parttime and student safety and security staff.
  • Coordinate and conduct campuswide exercises to prepare the campus community for potential emergencies (fire drills tornado drills active shooter training etc.).
  • Collaborate with appropriate academic departments to provide meaningful curricular and cocurricular experiences that will contribute to the professional preparation of Anderson University students.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Manage and maintain the schedule of campus security personnel to ensure appropriate safety and security coverage for the campus.
  • Support the issuance and management of Anderson University ID cards and parking passes.
  • Coordinate and submit the universitys annual Cleary Act report. Ensure compliance with other federal state and local safetyrelated regulations.
  • Create assess and maintain safety and security protocols for acute emergencies which may include but is not limited to: active shooter medical emergencies tornado response fire response flood response assault and sexual harassment/domestic violence response drug and weapon seizure and disposal etc.
  • Maintain an updated list of people who are not allowed to be on the campus and remove those parties from campus when needed.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of all campus security vehicles equipment and technology.
  • Lead or support threat assessment and behavioral intervention efforts in partnership with Student Life Counseling Services and Work Life Engagement.
  • Track and analyze campus safety trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Produce and present regular reports and recommendations to leadership.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • Cultivate a working relationship with Anderson Police and the Anderson Fire Department to provide important emergency and nonemergency services to the campus.
  • Develop reasonable processes and practices that provide nonemergency support for Anderson University students faculty and staff.
  • Nurture trusted relationships with students faculty and staff.
  • Answer inbound calls to campus security and relay information to campus security staff or respond to students faculty and staff when appropriate.
  • Manage campus emergency notification systems (e.g. text alerts email systems).
  • Coordinate postincident communication and debriefs with university leadership and communications staff.

Other duties as necessary or required.

Qualifications

High School Graduate with a minimum of 23 years experience in roles that required the following:

  • Strong organizational and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm in tense situations
  • Ability to make independent judgments
  • Supervisory skills that develop a strong team with the ability to train and manage a largestaff
  • Staff scheduling
  • Ability to be flexible perform multiple tasks
  • Solid administrative management skills

Must also have strong computer and internet research skills. Clean driving record and proficiency in changing tires charging car batteries and unlocking locked vehicles. Demonstrate Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) with transferable skills to the Google Docs Suite (Docs Sheets Slides Drive Forms).

POSITION is a 100% Full Time Position for 12 months per year. This is NOT a remote position. It requires on site work daily.
