The Local Project Delivery Section develops and implements the multimodal policies of the General Envision 2040. Interns will have opportunities to support engineering staff in the following areas:
Review designs plans and estimates associated with the implementation of project development consistent with City policies regulatory requirements current design standards and grant guidelines.
Inspect project sites toassistin solving difficult problems and ensuring quality control safety and compliance with regulatory design and construction requirements.
Additionally tasks and assignments could include but are not limited toassistingwith planning documentation design review data collection and analysis for:
Delivery of grant funded projects which includes state and federal funded projects.
Project expenditures and budget management.
Miscellaneous projects related to design cost estimate review and tracking project milestones.
Internship Start: Summer 2025 (exact date to bedetermined).
Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to completion of high school and current enrollment in an accredited college or university in undergraduate orgraduate programin the field of Civil Engineeringor closely relatedfield.
Certifications/Licenses:
Possession of a valid drivers license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in the state of California may bein performing job duties.
Availability of up to 20 hours per week is preferred though actual hours may vary based on business needs. These roles include up to two days of inperson work at San Jos City Hall. This position requires proficiency in using Microsoft Office software (Word Excel Outlook Visio and PowerPoint).
Strong applicants will be organized; possess excellent analytical skills; hold strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; be comfortable working with diverse communities; and be able to travel to offsite locations for outreach and field visits.
