All (United States of America)Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The XRay Technician performs digital Xray studies on patients per the orders placed by providers. The XRay Technician is a multiskilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the direction of the provider.
Essential Job Functions
Safely performs provider ordered radiographic examinations including but not limited to proper patient positioning immobilization and utilizing appropriate radiation protection.
Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilization equipment and devices as required by individual cases. Positions and handles patients with a high degree of safety and professionalism
Accurately documents patient encounters within Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Determines and selects proper electronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient xray tube and equipment
Maintains clinical and administrative skills to meet patient care and daily operational needs. Collect patient specimens and runs point of care lab tests. Travel to other facilities for BSMH providers or adjusting work hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the manager may also be required.
Directs and practices sterile technique to prevent crosscontamination of disease
Reports immediately any malfunction necessary adjustments or repairs of equipment to supervisor
Other duties include but not limited to ordering supplies lab and diagnostic tests disposes of contaminated supplies patient registration scheduling phone triage cash handling checkin/checkout and performing scribing duties as needed basis.

Licensing/ Certification
Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (required)
State Licensure (preferred unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
BLS Basic Life Support American Heart Association (preferred upon hire must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)
Education
Associates from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)
Experience
1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred)
Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred)
Training
EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)
Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Medical Terminology and the ability to use standard office equipment required
One year of Medical Assisting experience preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to collaboratively work with patients families and teams within a highvolume environment preferred
Strong attention to details and an ability to multitask without prior instruction or direction preferred
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
